Architectural Comfort

What if glass could do far more than separate indoors from outdoors?
Architectural Comfort™ is a broader approach to glazing—integrating thermal comfort, condensation control, acoustics, visual performance and intelligent building systems into a single engineered strategy.
We believe the next generation of architectural glass will be defined not only by energy performance, but by how buildings feel, function and respond to the people inside them.

Beyond Thermal Comfort - Engineering Architectural Comfort™
For generations, architectural glass has been measured primarily by U-value, solar heat gain, visible light transmission and structural performance.
Those measurements remain essential. But they tell only part of the story.
People notice a cold window on a winter morning. They notice glare, unwanted noise, condensation and uncomfortable perimeter temperatures.
At IQ Radiant Glass®, we believe glazing is evolving from a passive building material into active building infrastructure.

That is Architectural Comfort™.

Thermal Comfort
Conventional glass can remain one of the coldest surfaces in an occupied space, creating radiant heat loss and the familiar “cold window effect.”
IQ Radiant electrically heated glass transforms the interior glass surface into a controlled radiant heat source, improving perimeter comfort and reducing cold downdrafts.
Greater radiant comfort can also allow buildings to operate at lower ambient air temperatures without sacrificing occupant comfort.

Condensation Control
Condensation occurs when high interior humidity meets a glass surface below the dew point.
By maintaining the interior glass surface above the dew point, IQ Radiant Glass® can prevent condensation while preserving transparency.
This principle was demonstrated beneath the Lincoln Memorial, where uninterrupted visibility through clear glass was essential to the visitor experience.

Acoustic Comfort
Comfort is experienced through sound as well as temperature.
Advanced insulated and laminated glazing assemblies can provide substantial acoustic attenuation while maintaining transparency.
Glazing, framing, perimeter seals and surrounding construction must be engineered as a complete system to achieve the intended performance.

Visual Comfort
Natural daylight is one of architecture’s greatest assets when properly controlled.
High-performance glazing can balance daylight, glare reduction, solar control, color neutrality and privacy while maintaining architectural transparency.

The objective is not simply more glass. It is better-performing glass.

Intelligent Environmental Control
Glass can now become part of the building control system.
IQ Radiant Glass® can integrate with thermostats, humidistats, Building Management Systems and intelligent environmental controls.
Individual panes can operate as discrete controlled zones, responding to temperature, humidity, occupancy and changing building conditions.
The result is greater comfort, improved operational control and the potential for reduced building energy demand.

Engineering the Complete System
No single component creates Architectural Comfort™.
Exceptional performance comes from integrating glazing, framing, structural interfaces, environmental controls, HVAC and architectural design.

The best buildings do not leave comfort to chance. They engineer it.

The Future of Architectural Comfort™
Architectural glass is no longer simply an opening in a wall.
It can contribute directly to thermal regulation, condensation control, acoustic performance, daylight management, energy performance and intelligent building operation.
The Lincoln Memorial Undercroft demonstrates what becomes possible when advanced glazing technology, preservation and architectural design are engineered together.
At IQ Radiant Glass®, we believe the next generation of architecture will be defined not only by efficiency or aesthetics, but by the quality of the human experience within the building.

That is Architectural Comfort™.
